It's True
I found out about 2 years ago that my mom had been told by her doctor that she would never be able to to have children due to a physical abnormality.
Imagine her surprise when she started experiencing morning sickness!! I’ve heard the family stories about her insatiable appetite for canned tomatoes and onion sandwiches … ew! That explains why I’ve never liked onions!! 🙂
God chose to bring me into the world through a broken vessel – He made a way where there was no way. BUT, I forget and I have to remind myself that every one of my heart beats is a miracle … that I’m not here by chance … and that I AM NOT A MISTAKE.
You’re a miracle too!
Psalm 139:13-15 confirms to us that we’re all miracles. Here it is in The Passion Translation:
You formed my innermost being, shaping my delicate inside and my intricate outside, and wove them all together in my mother’s womb.
I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex!
Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord!
You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place, carefully, skillfully shaping me from nothing to something.
Verse 13 resonates with me because God miraculously brought me into this life through a womb that was not, according to worldly standards, capable of carrying a baby.
The psalmist continues in verse 14 to thank the Father for this and points out that everything God does is marvelously breathtaking. I love that … sit with that idea for a minute … marvelously breathtaking … It simply amazes me to think about it!
Joy!
Here’s the part that really fills my heart with joy:
How thoroughly you know me, Lord!
Since the Lord is our Creator, He knows everything about us – every nook and cranny … physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually … everything we allow into the open AND everything we hide in the shadows.
Verse 15 goes on to tell us that He carefully, skillfully shaped me from nothing to something. Wow!
The Creative You
Think back to the last time you created something. Some of us have to think all the way back to our coloring book days! 😉 As a kid, I used to make models … yep, I used that old highly toxic glue to put together cars and planes … applied the stickers … made sure all the working parts moved. By the time I finished I throughly knew everything about that model … I created it from nothing to something – which is one of the proofs that we are made in the image of God … I digress 🙂
When you created something from nothing, you knew it from the inside out and from the outside in. God knows us the same way … and I would say that He knows us better than we knows ourselves.
So now what?
You are mysteriously complex and marvelously breathtaking. But what now?
Now we have to look at why we were fearfully and wonderfully made. Why do you think you’re here? What is your purpose? Once you have your purpose nailed down, what is your assignment for this season?
